If you’ve found yourself deep in the baby-name rabbit hole lately — scrolling through endless lists, saying names out loud to see how they sound, or vetoing everything your partner suggests — you’re in good company.
Kelvin and I always struggled SO much choosing names. And since we never found out the sex, we had 2 names to choose each time and made it even harder on ourselves!
So — if you’re feeling like naming a baby is one of those things that feels magical and a little daunting, I agree. It’s this wild mix of excitement, sentiment, and “do I really get to name a human being?” combined with “oh shoot, I have to give my child a NAME!?!” energy. You don’t need the reminder, I’m sure, but to choose a name they’ll carry around forever? It is a big thing!

Who is The Labor Mama and Why Am I Here?
Hey friend! I’m Lo – also known around here and social media as The Labor Mama. I’ve spent my nursing career in labor, delivery, and postpartum, have birthed 4 of my own babies, have labored thousands of mamas at the bedside, have taught hundreds of students online, and have even delivered a few speedy little babies with my bare hands (oops).
Here at TLM, I offer online classes to empower you the way everyone should be. The education + support I offer gives you experience, evidence, and empathy; you’re getting all of my years of “clinical” RN knowledge, beautifully combined with my real experiences as a mama and a nurse. These are not your average hospital classes (those won’t do it, I promise), and honestly, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding don’t follow a textbook or protocol anyway. You need to know so much more than that!
If you want to connect with me further, head to Instagram. There are hundreds of thousands of us over there learning together daily.

Before we dive into the most popular and trending boy names of 2025, let’s slow down for a second and talk about how to make this process a little less overwhelming (and maybe even fun).
Tips & Tricks for Choosing a Baby Name You’ll Love
1. Say it out loud — a lot.
Names sound different when you actually say them. Try calling it out like you’re yelling for your toddler from across the playground. Does it roll off your tongue? Feel right when paired with your last name? Does it flow with the middle name? Does it sound good with any siblings – and does that matter to you? If you find yourself stumbling or hesitating when you answer these questions, maybe that means it’s a no.
2. Think about meaning (if that matters to you).
Some parents want a name with deep family roots or meaningful origins, while others just want something that feels modern, strong, classic, etc. Neither is right or wrong. But if a meaning gives you that extra yes, it’s worth noting.
3. Include your partner — even if you don’t agree at first.
Naming together can be tricky. One of you might love old-fashioned charm while the other wants something bold and new. Kelvin was always SO annoying at having a negative or random connotatino with felt like basically anything I suggested!
Did I love the name Delaney and he told me no over and over because his high school had a coach named Mr. Delaney (not even his coach, btw)? Yes. Yes he did.
Instead of shooting ideas down, try a “maybe list.” Write down everything that sparks either of your interest, walk away for a few days, then come back and see what sticks. We also liked the apps that let you both swipe and then told you when you had pairs!
4. Visualize the name in real life.
This one is so big to me. Picture it on a graduation program. On a name tag. On a wedding invitation. Picture them introducing themself for a job interview. Does it feel timeless enough? Too trendy? Will they be good with sharing that first piece of themself? If you can see it at every stage of life, that’s a good sign.
5. Trust your gut.
You’ll know when it’s right. Truly. Sometimes a name just feels like home — even if it wasn’t on your original list. And if you’re second-guessing, that’s okay too. It’s a big choice, but there’s no “perfect” one. There’s only the one that fits your family.
Ok, let’s get to the big list. Here are the Top 500 Boy Names for 2025!

Some final thoughts: The “Right” Name Is the One That Feels Right
At the end of the day, there’s no wrong choice. There’s no secret formula. The “right” name isn’t necessarily the trendiest or the rarest — it’s the one that feels right when you say it, the one that feels like your baby.
And my last piece of advice? If you like a top 10 name? Good. Go for it. Use it. I think a lot of people get caught up in a name being too popular, but I’d say let that go. Choose what you love and stick to it.
Take your time. Play with ideas. Listen to each other. You’ll know when you’ve found it — that little heart-flutter moment when you say the name and think, yep, that’s ours.
And I can also tell you that after birth? They just seem to become their name anyway, and it just feels right.
I want to know. Did you find this easy? Let me know in the comments! xx – Lo
