6 Halloween-themed gender reveal ideas you will love
If announcing your pregnancy lines up with spooky season, you’ve got the perfect excuse for a festive, fun gender reveal. Here are six ideas that are simple, creative, and scream Halloween magic.
1. Pumpkin Glow Reveal
Carve a pumpkin with a question mark, then pop in a pink or blue light. When you flip the switch—bam! The glow says it all. And tell me this isn’t so easy? We live in a neighborhood where so many of us our truly friends, so I love this idea to easily share the news with all of those friends too.
2. Trick-or-Treat Candy Bags
If you’re doing a gender reveal party and inviting a few guests, hand out mini treat bags filled with pink or blue candy. Have your guests open their “trick or treat” bags at the same time and get their sweet surprise.
3. Witch’s Brew Cauldron
A little spin on a party drink – add some dry ice to make some spooky fog, then drop in a hidden color bomb. As the potion swirls, that pink or blue fog will share your news! As someone who grew up in a house that didn’t celebrate Halloween (but I so love it now with my little kids!), I kind of think this is THE most fun idea. I love the thought of letting my bigger kids participate by stirring in the “potion.”
4. Skeleton Costume Reveal
Dress up in a skeleton outfit with a tiny pink or blue baby skeleton painted on your belly. I’ve definitely seen this done around Halloween season and I think it’s such a cute little way to say “baby on board.” Honestly, I’d wear one of these shirts the whole month of October! This “skelly in my belly” shirt is SO fun too!
5. Pumpkin or Ghost Piñata
Fill a Halloween piñata with candy and confetti in pink or blue. This one is a classic, for sure. But everyone loves a pinata, and I love this idea again when there are siblings in the house (or young cousins/other littles) who can participate in the “reveal.”
6. Haunted Balloon Box
Decorate a big box like a haunted house, fill it with black balloons, and add one pink or blue. Open the box and let the “boo” float up. This one isn’t QUITE as simple as the others, but if you are planning a party, it’d be a great decoration AND could be used for the reveal as well.

Big takeaway for me? It’s alway that your baby is worth celebrating, but you two get to decide how to do that, who to do it with, and whether or not you want to know boy/girl before and whether or not you want to share that with the world now or later. I do think the holidays give you free reign to have a little fun with any sort of announcement you’re making, and spooky-season, Halloween goodness is definitely a fun season to play around with for your gender reveal.
