But before we dive into this MomCozy breast pump review—Who is The Labor Mama and Why Am I Here?
Hey friend! I’m Lo – also known around here and social media as The Labor Mama. I’ve spent my nursing career in labor, delivery, and postpartum, have birthed 4 of my own babies, have labored thousands of mamas at the bedside, have taught thousands of students online, and have even delivered a few speedy little babies with my bare hands (oops).
Here at TLM, I offer online classes about birth, postpartum, newborn care, and breastfeeding to empower you the way everyone should be. The education + support I offer gives you experience, evidence, and empathy; you’re getting all of my years of “clinical” RN knowledge, honestly combined with my real experiences as a mama, nurse, and CLC. These are not your average hospital classes (those won’t do it, I promise), and honestly, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding don’t follow a textbook or protocol anyway. You need to know so much more than that!

Now, let’s get back to this MomCozy breast pump review!
What Is the MomCozy Breast Pump?
The MomCozy M5 is a wearable, wireless breast pump designed to make pumping on the go easier for busy moms. The idea with a wearable like this is that you can pop it into your bra – with no tubing or wiring hanging out – and then still do basically everything you need to do with your free hands. With its compact design and mobile functionality, it really is perfect for multitasking—whether you’re chasing a toddler, working from home, taking a quick pump break at the office, or out running errands.
MomCozy offers a wide range of wearable pumps to suit different needs and preferences. In addition to the M5 I’m chatting about here, popular models include:
While this post focuses on the MomCozy M5, it’s important to note that each of these models has its own features and capabilities. The review, pros, and cons shared here are specific to the M5 and may not apply to all other styles.
Features of the MomCozy M5
The MomCozy M5 stands out among wearable breast pumps for its thoughtful design and user-friendly features. Here’s a closer look at what makes it a great option for moms:
Seamless Design
The M5 boasts a sleek and discreet design, making it one of the most “natural” looking wearable pumps on the market. Its seamless fit with your breasts’ natural shape means you can use it confidently under clothing without feeling self-conscious.
Three Pump Settings
Customize your pumping experience with three modes:
- Stimulate: To encourage let-down.
- Expression: For efficient milk extraction.
- Mixed: A combination mode to mimic a baby’s natural nursing rhythm.
Easy-to-Use Pump Interface
The intuitive interface makes operation simple and stress-free. With just a few buttons, you can switch between modes and adjust settings with ease—even during busy moments and when your hands are otherwise full.
Multiple Flanges and Inserts
The M5 comes with a variety of flanges and inserts to ensure a proper fit for moms of different sizes. Fit is SO crucial when it comes to pump output! This *very necessary* customization definitely helps improve comfort and efficiency, making the pumping process smoother.
Who Is the MomCozy M5 For?
The MomCozy M5 is an excellent option for moms who need to stay mobile while pumping. Its wearable, wireless design is perfect for:
- Moms who work outside the home and need a pump that can travel with them.
- Moms who spend time away from their breastfeeding baby, whether for errands, appointments, or other responsibilities.
- Moms with travel obligations who need a portable and discreet pumping solution.
- Moms looking for hands-free convenience while pumping around the house.
While the M5 could work well for exclusive pumpers, I’d recommend using it as a secondary pump rather than a primary one. Wearable pumps like the M5 are incredibly convenient for on-the-go situations, but a traditional primary pump may be better for regular, heavy-duty use, as they often move milk more efficiently.
*In the spirit of full transparency, I have to tell you that this wearable empties me just as well as a primary double electric pump! I’ve never had an issue of it emptying me less. However, that is a common con for a lot of pumpers with wearable pumps, so I think it’s only fair and honest to share that info with you!
If you’re an exclusive pumper, the M5 can still be a lifesaver for those occasional or in-between moments when mobility is a must.
Pros and Cons of the MomCozy M5
Like any product, the MomCozy M5 has its strengths and areas for improvement. Here’s an honest breakdown based on my experience:
Pros:
- Design: The M5’s seamless, unobtrusive design is one of its standout features. It doesn’t have odd shapes or angles, so it looks like a natural addition to the breast during use—great for discretion and comfort. I also love that the pump and its pieces are mostly transparent. This gives you good visibility when you’re getting the pump situated right on your breast.
- Different Mode Options: With stimulate, expression, and mixed modes, it’s easy to find what works best for your body. Switching between modes is effortless, and the built-in timer on the motor helps you keep track of your session length.
- Ease of Use: The M5 is incredibly user-friendly. The parts fit together seamlessly without any frustrating wiggling or forcing. The motor is simple to attach and remove, making assembly and cleaning a breeze.
- Carrying Case: The included carrying case is a thoughtful touch. It keeps everything organized, whether you’re storing the pump at home or packing it for travel.
- Cost: The M5 is competitively priced, offering functionality comparable to higher-priced pumps (but for less). Plus, MomCozy often runs sales, making it even more budget-friendly.
- Dust Covers: The dust covers included with the M5 protect the flange from collecting dust when the pump is assembled or when you’re taking it somewhere—something I didn’t realize I’d appreciate until I used it.
- Flange Options: With 21 mm and 24 mm flanges plus inserts for 17 mm, 19 mm, and 21 mm sizes, the M5 provides flexibility to ensure the right fit without needing to buy extra parts. I also like that you have what you need to mix and match if your nipples and areola are different sizes (yes, that happens)!
- Silicone Backflow Protector: This feature, which sits at the end of the flange tunnel, is extra gentle for moms with elastic nipples that may bump the end of the tunnel.
Cons:
- No Bluetooth: While some moms may prefer a pump with Bluetooth/app connectivity, the M5 doesn’t include this feature. If that’s a priority for you, this might not be the best fit. *Snag the M9 model if you want that feature! It’s basically the same product—with an app and bluetooth capabilities.
- Charge Time: The M5’s battery lasts about 2 hours on a full charge. While this is reasonable, other pumps on the market can hold a longer charge, which might be more convenient for some users.
- Doesn’t Stand Up: Unlike pumps that can stand vertically when not in use, the M5 lays flat. This can occasionally lead to spills if you’re not careful when picking it up.
- Pull/Feel: The pump’s suction can sometimes feel slightly “sticky.” It’s not painful, but the slide of the nipples through the chamber could feel smoother. Silicone inserts could help if you did notice this, and a little lubrication could likely fix this minor issue.
- Mixed Mode: While advertised as a mode that “vibrates to pump faster,” I didn’t notice much of a difference in vibration between mixed mode and expression mode. This doesn’t bug me because I don’t care about the vibration, but worth noting. Your experience may vary!
Is the MomCozy M5 Worth It?
If you’re looking for an affordable, wearable breast pump that delivers functionality and convenience, the MomCozy M5 is a fantastic option. At its price point, it’s hard to beat what this pump offers.
Again, while I wouldn’t recommend a wearable pump as your primary option if you’re pumping really frequently or exclusively, the M5 is an excellent choice for occasional use. It’s perfect for those moments when you need a hands-free, on-the-go solution or simply want the flexibility of a wearable pump. It has saved me in MANY busy mom of 4 moments!
The M5 moves milk effectively, feels and looks great during use, and stands out for its easy assembly and disassembly. These small yet significant details make it a product I’d definitely recommend to moms who want a reliable wearable pump without breaking the bank.
Pair It With the Right Bra
To get the best experience with the MomCozy M5, I recommend pairing it with a bra designed for wearable pumps. Here’s some I love and use often:
- Auden Bra: Shop here
- Kindred Bravely Sublime Bra: Shop here and use code THELABORMAMA15 to save 15%.
Having the right nursing bra ensures your pump stays secure and works effectively, giving you a stress-free experience.
My final thoughts for this MomCozy Breast Pump Review: The MomCozy M5
The MomCozy M5 is an excellent choice for moms looking for an affordable, wearable breast pump that balances functionality, mobility, and comfort. Whether you’re pumping on the go, multitasking at home, or simply need a convenient secondary pump, the M5 really does deliver impressive performance at an awesome price point.
If you’ve been searching for a pump that can fit into your busy lifestyle and supports your breastfeeding journey, the MomCozy M5 is definitely worth considering.
