There’s just something so exciting about figuring out how to announce your pregnancy, whether it’s your first or your fifth. I’ve seen it all—heartfelt, creative, and downright fun ways to share the big news. I’ve also seen quiet, simple shares with little fanfare—and that’s been exactly right for those families too.

I think for a lot of families, how you announce is a way to make their pregnancy feel even more special. So, if you’re looking for a little inspiration, I’ve rounded up some of the most unique and fun ways my students from Your Body, Your Birth have done their pregnancy reveals. Trust me, these ideas will leave you feeling inspired and ready to celebrate this beautiful milestone!

Before we go much deeper into ideas on how to announce your pregnancy– Who is The Labor Mama and Why Am I Here?

Hey friend! I’m Lo – also known around here and social media as The Labor Mama. I’ve spent my nursing career in labor, delivery, and postpartum, have birthed 4 of my own babies, have labored thousands of mamas at the bedside, have taught thousands of students online, and have even delivered a few speedy little babies with my bare hands (oops).

Here at TLM, I offer online classes about birth, postpartum, newborn care, and breastfeeding to empower you the way everyone should be. The education + support I offer gives you experience, evidence, and empathy; you’re getting all of my years of “clinical” RN knowledge, honestly combined with my real experiences as a mama and a nurse. These are not your average hospital classes (those won’t do it, I promise), and honestly, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding don’t follow a textbook or protocol anyway. You need to know so much more than that!

If you want to connect with me further, head to Instagram. There are hundreds of thousands of us over there learning together daily.

Now, let’s get into these pregnancy announcements!

Mickey Ears & New Baby Cheers

“With our first, we announced at the most magical place on earth.”

There’s just something magical about announcing your pregnancy at Disney World. It’s a place that’s full of joy, wonder, and a little bit of pixie dust around every corner. Whether you’ve always been a Disney lover or you just want to share your big news in the most unforgettable way possible, the options are endless! Not a Disney person? Then take the same idea at a different place that you both love.

Riding Into Parenthood

“This was our first. I’m an equestrian so it was really special to announce this way. 🥰”

For one of my students, announcing her pregnancy was extra special because it tied into her love for horses. As an equestrian, she couldn’t think of a better way to share the news than with a photo of her horse next to a chalkboard that read, “New rider expected December 2022.” It was such a personal and meaningful way to reveal her pregnancy, combining her passion for horses with the excitement of a new little one on the way. A perfect, heartfelt announcement that captured the beauty of both loves! (And of course, you see this done with the family dog, cat, or pet all the time too)!

How To Announce Your Pregnancy- Custom Coffee Mugs | The Labor Mama

One of my students shared the sweetest way they announced their pregnancy to their families while visiting them (they live abroad in Papua New Guinea). They gifted their loved ones coffee mugs with the clever message, “Coffee isn’t the only thing that’s been brewing in PNG. Baby Martin is coming in 2023!” It was such a creative and personal way to share the news, especially since they were living overseas. The mugs were the perfect keepsake to celebrate their growing family while connecting with their loved ones from afar. How special is that?!

Thing 1, Thing 2, & Thing 3

Two of my students came up with such fun, creative ways to announce their pregnancies, while including their sweet fur babies! One snapped an adorable photo of her two dogs standing proudly next to a chalkboard that read, “We’re getting a baby, a human this time.” Cute, right?

Another student had her pup and cat rock “Thing 1” and “Thing 2” bandanas, with a “Thing 3” onesie front and center in the shot. She captioned it, “Four legged Thing 1 and Thing 2 announced a two legged Thing 3.”

I absolutely love seeing my students embrace the holiday season to announce their pregnancies, making the festivities even more special. The holidays are such a perfect time for sharing this kind of joyful news—everyone is already gathered together and the festive spirit adds an extra layer of magic to the announcement. Embroidering a New Chapter: Lean into Your Hobbies

I was so touched by this heartfelt pregnancy announcement from one of my students, beautifully capturing their journey into parenthood. The photo features a hand-embroidered piece by the student herself, showcasing praying hands with the words of “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep” alongside an ultrasound image and a goose-themed onesie—a nod to her maiden name, Gossling, which also inspired the nursery, clothes, and toys for their little one. They added their baby’s name across the bottom of the embroidery after her birth, having kept the gender a surprise as part of “team green.”

To share the news, they gifted their family special keepsakes: cousin crew sweatshirts for her niece and nephews on her side, and aunt, uncle, grandma, and grandpa shirts or mugs for his side of the family.

Adding a Pumpkin to the Patch: Fall Pregnancy Announcement Ideas

Two students brought the fall season to life with their charming pumpkin-themed pregnancy announcements. One created an adorable setup with a “Cutest Pumpkin in the Patch” onesie, a positive pregnancy test, and hand-painted mini pumpkins spelling out “Our Little Pumpkin Coming October 2023.” The other opted for an outdoor scene with larger pumpkins inscribed with “Our Little Pumpkin” and “Coming March 2023.” They also included a smaller “Baby” pumpkin and an ultrasound photo nestled among vibrant flowers. Both announcements creatively blended the cozy, harvest-time vibe with the excitement of their coming little ones.
