The Downsides (Because No Carrier Is Perfect)

• There’s a learning curve. It’s a lot of fabric, and wrapping it can feel confusing at first. I recommend practicing a few times before baby arrives.
•  Adjusting isn’t easy once baby is in. Unlike some other carriers, you can’t really tighten the wrap after baby is already inside.
• Not ideal for nursing. If you’re hoping to nurse in your carrier, the Solly isn’t the best option.
• Can get warm. The fabric is breathable, but there’s still some warmth between you and baby. It’s worth noting if you live in a hot climate.

The Mabe Carrier is a great in-between option if you’re looking for something that’s more structured than a wrap but not as bulky as a full structured carrier. It’s really similar to the Wildbird Aerial, but there are a few key differences that make it worth considering — especially if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option.

I love this carrier for babies past the newborn stage. It’s lightweight, easy to put on, and comfortable for longer wear thanks to the criss-cross back straps. Plus, the Velcro adjustments make it simple to get a good fit for baby’s hips, and it’s easy to adjust while baby is inside, which is a huge win for nursing moms.

The Hope + Plum Lark is one of the most comfortable and inclusive carriers I’ve tried. It’s perfect if you’re looking for something lightweight with no extra bulk or complicated adjustments. The design is clean and simple — no snaps, Velcro, or extra flaps — just soft fabric that adjusts to fit your baby comfortably.

The shoulder and back straps are really comfy, and the criss-cross back straps help distribute the weight evenly. I love how easy it is to adjust the seat width by sliding or bunching the fabric to create that deep, M-shaped seat that’s important for hip health. Plus, the colors and prints are gorgeous, and their Facebook support group is a great resource if you have questions or need help with fit.

The Downsides

• IMO, not great for younger/smaller babies. This carrier didn’t fit my little one well (she was really small for her age) until 6+ months. The fabric panel is pretty long, so it felt too loose and big in those early months and I def struggled to get the seat right.
• The waistband slips a little, especially when you slide it up. They do offer a safety strap, but it’s something to keep in mind.
• No built-in back carry option. Like the Wildbird Aerial, you’ll need to add on clips for back carrying, and those can be easy to lose or forget.

Best for Stylish, Lightweight Babywearing

The Sakura Bloom Scout is one of the most beautiful carriers I’ve ever used. It’s perfect if you want something that looks just as good as it feels — think high-end fabrics, leather details, and stunning color options. But it’s not just pretty. It’s also compact, lightweight, and great for smaller babies, which makes it a solid option for the early baby stage.

Best for Quick, On-the-Go Babywearing

The Wildbird Ring Sling is one of the easiest carriers to grab and go, which makes it perfect for quick trips and hands-free time around the house. It’s lightweight, compact, and easy to tuck into a diaper bag, and I love how simple it is to get on and off.

One of the best parts about ring slings is how many fabric options and prints Wildbird offers. You can choose the style, color, and weight that works best for you and your baby. It’s a great option once your baby has a little more head control, and I personally love using it during wake times when my babies want to be up, looking around, and hanging out with me.
